All types of English and Metric Units of Measure are Fully Supported!
Real-Time Monitoring: Your imagination is the only limit when designing the real-time monitoring display screen. Drag and drop placement of objects, alignment grid, object snap to, and other features make designing a custom display intuitive and fast. There are no limits on the number of screens you can create and save for later use. Weather data is updated as fast as weather station allows. This is generally every 1-2 seconds. This is great for watching a storm in real-time. If you have placed a real-time scrolling wind speed graph on the display, every wind reading received from the weather station will be plotted and displayed as a moving strip chart! Up to 5 screens may be configured for upload to an FTP server for inclusion in web pages. See Internet Features link.
The following types of objects can be placed on the Real-Time Monitoring screen.
METAR Direction Indicator (Pro only): Graphically indicates the wind direction for up to 15 METAR sites with a small pointer. Imagine setting the background of a particular WV32 screen configuration to a image file containing a map of your area, and placing this and other METAR related data objects transparently over the appropriate locations. Instant TV current weather report!
METAR Weather Icon (Pro Only): Up to 15 small images that represent the current weather being reported by a particular METAR site can be placed on any WV32 screen configuration.
HTTP Image Object (Pro only): Allows the definition of up to 5 URL's which point to images on the net. These images are updated at used specified times and may be displayed on any WV32 screen configuration. The ability to animate any of the 5 available images is provided. Animating an image requires a single mouse click! The images may even be scaled as a percent of actual size, configured to only display a user selected area of the image, or manually set to a user specified height and width.
Data Item ID Label: Allows placement of up to 50 labels which will identify a particular sensor
Data Item Value Label: Up to 50 data item value labels may be placed on the real-time monitoring desktop. This label can be configured to displays the current reading of any sensor or as well as other parameters such as date, time, climatological data, sun and moon information, Maximum and minimum daily sensor readings, and the rate of change for selected sensors. Data from METAR sites may be added when using the professional version!
User Text: Up to 20 user-defined lines of text may be added to the real-time monitoring desktop.
Dial Indicator Graphic: Up to 10 different dial indicators may be placed on the real-time monitoring screen. Two different sizes of dials are available. The dials will indicate the proper units of measure dependent upon which sensor is assigned to a particular dial. Data from METAR sites may be assigned to a dial indicator when using the professional version!
Thermometer Graphic: Up to 10 graphical thermometers may be placed on the desktop and assigned to any available sensors reporting temperature data. This object is only suitable for display resolutions >= 800 by 600. Data from METAR sites may be assigned to a thermometer graphic when using the professional version!
Trend Graph: Up to 15 trend graphs detailing the conditions over the past 3,6,12, or 24 hours may be configured for placement on the real-time monitoring desktop. See the link for more information on this powerful tool. The professional version adds the capability to assign a trend graph to a METAR (Government weather station) site.
Real-Time Windspeed Graph: This is a real-time wind speed graph, the current wind speed is represented both as text and graphically, as the wind changes velocity the graph will scroll to the left at approximate intervals of one second.
Lightning Detection Display. A special display object dedicated to displaying information in graphical form used by weather stations equipped with a lightning detection sensor. Only available with Texas Wetaher Instruments stations
Timed Sequential Data Item Object. This object is a little hard to describe, in that it allows the user to place multiple items on the weather view real-time monitoring desktop, these items are displayed as a single line of text, and will cycle at a user specified time interval through all the selected items.
Wind Run Object. A wind rose or alternatively, wind run object, is available for placement on the real-time monitoring desktop. This object displays the past 1 hour of wind data based on vector analysis of direction and speed. Spokes will radiate out from the center of the wind run object Based upon the vectors previously calculated. The scaling of this object is user selectable. Professional version provides indication of current wind speed and direction within the confines of this object.
User Defined Image. Allows the addition of one user-defined image on the weather to desktop. This is separate from the image that may be assigned to the background of the weather view real-time monitoring desktop. Professional version adds the capability to display only a user selected area of the assigned image!
Data Storage: While in real-time monitoring mode, weather data collected by Weather View 32 is stored to your disk drive with 1 minute resolution. If your station is equipped with data logging capability, any data stored in the weather station is automatically retrieved just prior to the display of the real-time monitoring screen. Any Data Logging capability you weather station offers is fully supported (with the exception of the Weather Buffer used by the Ultimeter 2000 (that is one strange piece of hardware!).
Graphing: Fully user configurable graphing features are provided. You can even configure up to 5 graphs to be uploaded to a FTP sever for inclusion in web pages. See Internet Features link.
Reports: 4 types of reports exist. Daily Max/Min, Daily Summary, Monthly Summary, and Climatological. See the links for more info.
Alarms: Alarms may be set to trigger dependent upon weather conditions (even rate of change for outside temperature, rainfall, and pressure). These alarms can send emails, call a pager or just make an annoying beeping sound, mix and match the notification methods. Six completely separate alarms are available. The standard version only provides audible alarms.
Climate Data: Climatological data for over 6700 sites in the US. Each climate data site contains daily information concerning average and record reading for temperature, rainfall, and snowfall. This data has been obtained from a commercial source which uses the most up to date data available directly from the National Climatic Data Center. New data sets will be available each year as soon as the data for the previous year has been processed by the National Climatic Data Center. You can display the current days records on the real-time monitoring screen, view a monthly report for a particular location, or even superimpose the climate data onto a graph of your actual conditions for a month. You can also enter in up to 10 user defined stations if you are located outside the area covered by the database.
Remote Access: Ability to connect to a remotely located weather station(s) via modem. A scheduler is provided to connect to your weather station(s) at regular time intervals to collect any logged data and current information.
Internet
Features: While Weather View 32
is extremely powerful when used only to connect you PC to your weather station, Weather
View 32 additionally provides the ability to automatically upload via FTP (or perform a
local save of screens) multiple screen captures of up to 5 separate configurations of the
real-time monitoring screen as well as user configured graphs, summary of the day in text
format and three user defined files.
The professional version adds to this capabilty with the following additional
features.
METAR Site Polling: Up to 150 METAR sites may defined and polled be WV32 for the latest weather conditions across the US or the world. This data can be displayed on the real-time screen as text, icons, and graphics. A history of the data collected during the past 24 hours is maintained for each site, the past 24 hours history for a particular weather parameter can be displayed within a Trend Graph assingned to a Particualer METAR site.
HTTP URL Polling: Up to 5 URL's pointing to images on the net can be configured. These images are updated a user specified intervals and can be displayed on a WV32 screen configuration. Animation of the retrieved images within WV32 is provided.
HTML Page Parsing: Weather View 32 can take a user provided web page and perform a "search and replace" of pre-defined tags (click here to see a list of all the tags) which are assigned to a particular weather related data item. What this means is that you create a web page which contains these WV32 tags and WV32 will replace the "tag" with the correct data item. WV32 will thewn upload the new page to your site. Up to 10 web pages may be parsed.
Email:The ability to send emails detailing the current conditions on an hourly basis is provided. When a alarm condition is met, emails can be sent detailing the event.
