The NTSC Reference Program:This program started in 1990 as a way to provide color bars out of a video VGA card that was being used to put some computer programs on a TV weather show. Since then, it has grown to become the full featured video reference aid that it is today. The program contains many graphics and charts that you won't find in broadcast books. The program also serves as an "all in one" utility that ties together all those diverse pieces of information that are often scattered about in dozens of reference manuals. NTSC makes a great training aid for those new techs!

Key Features of the NTSC Reference program:
NTSC Glossary- what the hell is
differential video gain anyway?
NTSC Parameter Reference- all
those little waveform numbers in microseconds presented in a
graphical and tabular format
NTSC Calculator- let's see, I've
got 77.3 feet of cable between master genlock and the live truck,
how many nanoseconds of delay is that?
Video Formats- no we don't have a
SECAM VTR, but I can tell you why we don't even want to think
about owning one!
Component Formats- ever wonder
what those odd looking R-Y B-Y waveforms mean? Our graphical
presentation makes it easy.
Video Equations- I don't get it
chief....when I mix paint it doesn't work that way...how come red
and green make Yellow?
Test Patterns- every test pattern
you need, what it looks like, what it does, and how to use it.
TV Channel Numbers- Kenneth, what
is the frequency?
and much much more.......

This series of screens describes the "multiburst"
test signal and its use.
NTSC for Windows is an interactive Help File for use with Windows 3, 1 or later Help Engine. All screens are fully detailed (far more so than the DOS version) and many contain actual video and waveforms that have been imported using computer video interfaces. The Windows version of NTSC has an easy to use browser that keeps track of where you've been as well as provide complete support for contents, index and glossary.
