About the Data Xcellerator Cable modem:

Priced at $299, and available NOW, this new system is intended to provide a cost-effective way for Chambers Cable to deliver high-speed data services over the existing cable TV network.

The dataXcellerator cable modem gives cable subscribers an opportunity to enjoy Internet access at high speeds, without having to put in expensive dedicated ISDN or T1 phone lines.

The data Xcellerator cable modem works in conjunction with your home phone line. Commands you type (like http://www.whatever.com)are sent out via the telephone line. The web page, email, or file downloads all come back at high speed via the cable TV at speeds up to 1.2 megabits/second, compare that to today's 56 kilobit/second modems!

Benefits of the new cable modem system include:

• No waiting for the phone company to install ISDN or T1 lines, works the same day you buy it!
• Works with any 486, Pentium, or better PC running Windows 95
• Provides data throughput of 1.2 megabits per second, or about 30 times faster than today’s fastest telephone modem and about 10 times faster than ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) services for rapid data access.
